Engage Speech Language Services is a private practice providing individualized stuttering and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. We work alongside clients, caregivers, and families to reduce communication barriers - helping our clients speak freely. Our services are provided both online and out in the community, with a focus on practicing communication skills in the real world. All services are offered in Haitian Creole and English.
Evaluations & Therapy
AAC
Engage offers pediatric augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations, guidance with communication device trials, and language therapy using high-tech/low-tech systems. We also help family members become more comfortable using AAC with their child by teaching a variety of communication strategies.
Pediatric Stuttering
We take a holistic approach to stuttering, improving your child's knowledge of stuttering, shaping attitudes/emotions, and modifying stuttering as much as possible to promote smoother speaking experiences. Speech therapy can help your child feel confident and more in control when communicating!
Adult Stuttering
Stuttering can impact individuals of all ages. We prioritize your individual goals in therapy and work toward functional outcomes such as improved presentation skills, confidence while speaking over the phone, and strategies to reduce the physiological effects of stuttering. It's never too late to start.

Milca Bellegarde, M.A., CCC-SLP
Owner, Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist
Milca is a licensed bilingual speech therapist who is fluent in both Haitian Creole and English. After earning her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she has taken advanced courses in stuttering and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Milca’s experience includes working with children in schools and home health settings, and clients of all ages in private practice clinics. She has also had the opportunity to provide speech and language services to children, families, and caregivers in Haiti, with an emphasis on sustainability.

Milca is committed to helping her clients communicate with confidence in the real world, whether that means using an AAC device at the park or ordering food at a restaurant without fear of stuttering.

When she is not working, you can find Milca enjoying a festival or outdoor activity, trying new recipes, or sewing!

Engage Speech Language Services provides online services throughout North Carolina. We also offer services via a hybrid model in the Charlotte area. Sessions begin online via teletherapy and we can meet in various community locations such as at the park, library, grocery store and local coffee shop as goals are mastered in sessions.

Evaluate!
If needed, we will evaluate you or your child's speech and language skills through interviews, observations, and testing. You will receive a written report with findings and recommendations.
Begin Therapy!
Begin therapy and start working toward your individual communication goals! Once new speech and language skills are mastered, we offer periodic "check-ins" to ensure lasting success.

School-Based Contract Services
Engage Speech Language Services, PLLC offers school-based speech therapy services that are educationally relevant and culturally competent. Our services emphasize the needs that have an impact on students' ability to access the general education curriculum. We provide screenings, evaluations, therapy and development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
